The excitement of the "firsts" each year is what keeps us going during the dark days of winter. The flowers of the vegetable garden are as beautiful to me as the flowers of an ornamental bed - because they are pretty AND they hold the promise of good eating to come.
The first tomato blossom is always so exciting.
