Fortunate

Sandy ripped through our area overnight leaving behind torn up trees, power outages, and flooding. We experienced some heavy rain and strong wind gusts, but it was mild in comparison to those south of us. Luckily, we only lost power for about an hour and there was no major damage to our home or property.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by Sandy.

  1. Glad you are OK and no damage! We avoided damage, thankfully, but are still without power. No word when it comes back.

  2. Yes, glad you're ok. Winds got pretty high here too. No major damage to report either other than a few power flashes/outages, a downed telephone pole and toppled over garden furniture. Montreal got off lightly as well. Toronto was hit pretty hard but nothing compared to NY and NJ. Ouch! (Wonder how Daphne is doing Boston?).

  3. I'm glad it left you mostly alone. We never even had a real brown out (flickering lights one, but not even enough to reset the microwave clock). Though my husband is home for the second day in a row since his work still doesn't have power.

  4. Glad you were so fortunate. Our daughter lives in PA and we were quite worried for her for several days - but she too did just fine.

  5. Sorry I am just replying to this, but I thought about you and Daphne personally this week after hurricane Sandy. I am so glad to hear you made it through and both of you are doing OK.

  6. Superstorm Sandy looks truly horrible. Glad to hear that you came through it OK. I made it through a couple of tropical storms and also several ice storms when I lived in Connecticut. They always took out our power, sometimes for days. So I have a feel for what people are going through.
